December 2016 PAYstats - pay and labour market statistics, containing a summary of what's happening in terms of inflation, employment and average earnings.
Latest pay and labour statistics:
- The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 1.2 per cent in the year to November 2016, compared with a 0.9 per cent rise in the year to October;
- The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 who were in work) was 74.4 per cent, slightly down from the joint record high of 74.5 per cent recorded for May to July 2016 but higher than for a year earlier (73.9 per cent) ; and,
- Total average earnings year on year increased by 2.8 per cent including bonuses and by 2.6 per cent excluding bonuses, in October 2016.
