Quarterly PAYstats pay and labour market statistics January 2017
January's PAYstats is a quarterly edition containing a summary of what's happening in terms of inflation, employment, earnings and pay settlements, alongside the usual pay and labour statistics.
Latest pay and labour statistics:
- The UK Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 1.6 per cent in the year to December 2016, compared with a 1.2 per cent rise in the year to November.
- The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 who were in work) was 74.5 per cent, virtually unchanged compared with June to August 2016 but higher than for a year earlier (74 per cent); and,
- Total average earnings increased by 2.8 per cent including bonuses and increased by 2.7 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to November 2016.
