Latest pay and labour market statistics January 2018:
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month rate was 3.0 per cent in December 2017, down from 3.1 per cent in November 2017;
The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 who were in work) was 75.3 per cent, higher than for a year earlier (74.5 per cent) and the joint highest since comparable records began in 1971; and,
Total average earnings increased by 2.3 per cent including bonuses and increased by 2.4 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to November 2017.
