Latest pay and labour market statistics March 2019:
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month rate was 1.9 per cent in February 2019, up from 1.8 per cent in January 2019.
The UK employment rate was estimated at 76.1 per cent, higher than for a year earlier (75.3 per cent) and the highest figure on record.
The UK unemployment rate was estimated at 3.9 per cent; it has not been lower since November 1974 to January 1975.
Total average earnings increased by 3.7 per cent including bonuses and it also increased by 3.5 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to January 2019.
