Latest Pay and Labour Market Statistics October 2017:
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month rate was 3.0 per cent in September 2017, up from 2.9 per cent in August 2017; it was last higher in March 2012;
The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 who were in work) was 75.1 per cent, up from 74.5 per cent for a year earlier; and
Total average earnings increased by 2.2 per cent including bonuses and increased by 2.2 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to May 2017.
