Latest pay and labour market statistics July 2017:
The Consumer Prices Index 12-month inflation rate was 2.6 per cent in June 2017, down from 2.7 per cent in May 2017;
The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 who were in work) was 74.9 per cent, the highest since comparable records began in 1971; and
Total average earnings increased by 1.8 per cent including bonuses and increased by 2.3 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to May 2017.
