Latest pay and labour market statistics October 2018:
The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) 12-month inflation rate was 2.2 per cent in September 2018, down from 2.4 per cent in August 2018.
The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 years who were in work) was 75.5 per cent, lower than for March to May 2018 (75.7 per cent) but higher than for a year earlier (75.1 per cent); and,
Total average earnings increased by 2.9 per cent including bonuses and increased by 3.1 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to August 2018.
